It was an atmosphere of love, and conviviality at the Palace of his Royal Majesty Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu in Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA as the frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party in Abia State , Professor Uche Ikonne was honoured with the Chieftaincy title of “ÒDÙM ABIA” by Ndi Eze Ohuhu.
Speaking after receiving the award, Professor Ikonne thanked Ndi Eze Ohuhu for the honor and pledged to reciprocate the kind gesture.
Earlier, while conferring the Chieftaincy title on Prof. Ikonne, the chairman of Ndi Eze Ohuhu who is also the traditional Ruler of Umudiawa Ohuhu Ancient kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, lauded Prof. Ikonne’s developmental strides at Abia State University and Abia State Polytehechic where he served as Vice-Chancellor and Acting Rector respectively.
He also blessed him and as well, declared total support of Ndi Eze Ohuhu, towards the gubernatorial aspirations of Professor Ikonne, noting that they have no doubt that he will put Abia on a faster lane of development.
The event which featured special prayers for Prof. Ikonnne’s victory come 2023,was graced by prominent Sons and Daughters of the Ohuhu, traditional Rulers including Eze Paul Uzuegbu,Eze Pastor Philip Ajomiwe,Eze Innocent Adiele Nwaigwe, Eze Godswill Asomugha, The President General Ohuhu Welfare Union, High Chief Eze Nkelohu, and other dignitaries.
The DG, Uche Ndi Abia Campaign, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Elechi, Director Media, Chief Uche Aguoru (Ikemba Ohuhu), Rev. Benson Ezem, among other dignitaries, accompanied Professor Ikonne to the ceremony.
