2023: Abia PDP Stakeholders Accuse Abaribe Of Anti- Party Activities

Accusations and counter accusations have continued to trail the Peoples Democratic Party,in Abia state, as stakeholders in the party have accused the Senate Minority leader and one of the aspirants in the 2023 governorship race Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe, of destabilizing the party through his unguarded comments and WhatsApp chats, which they said was capable of destroying the party and pave way for the opposition party to take over Abia state.

They also accused him of trying hard to destroy the party through the pursuit of his ‘inordinate ambition’ after his brother from the same local government has ruled the state for 8 years.

This is coming barely few days to the re-scheduled PDP gubernatorial primary election.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was alleged to have said in one of his WhatsApp chats “…bye bye PDP in Abia State”. A confirmation of series of nucturnal meetings with the opposition party members where he has been alleged to have encouraged the opposition to take over the state.

Abaribe has also been implicated by some statements allegedly credited to him during consultation of stakeholders and party delegates, where he boasted that, as the highest ranking member of the party, he must be considered during the election of the Party three-man-adhoc delegate congress or the party risk loosing the election.

The stakeholders revealed that Senator Abaribe is bent on destroying the party having realized that he is no where near the victory at the party’s primary, hence, resorting to his usual tactics of destroying whatever will not come his way.

One of the stakeholders who will not want his name mentioned in print also alleged that the Senate Minority leader also took the party to court by proxy to make sure the party is engulfed in crises so as to pave way for him to join another party as he did in 2003.

He equally revealed that Senator Abaribe held a secret meeting with some governorship aspirants and leaders of different political parties in the State to negotiate the possible ways to accommodate him should his plans of destabilizing the party work out and PDP is brewed in crises.

According to him, ” Senator Abaribe is aware that delegates will reject him during the party primary election, therefore, he is only left with the only option of destroying what is left of PDP”.

He said Abaribe is effortlessly making sure his party will not hold adhoc delegate congress in the State and wondered why a Man who should seek peaceful way of helping the party have a smooth transition will be the one trying to pull than his house roof.

A source in PDP privy to plans of the guber aspirant said that having lost in his initial bid to stop PDP primaries and adhoc delegate congress that Abaribe was perfecting plans to go to court after the primaries through his cronies.

The sources wondered how Abaribe tend to win election in the State as a failed legislator who can hardly point to the dividends he attracted to his people for the past 16 years in the red Chambers, adding that apart from his low rated performance Abaribe do not have moral justification to contest election to occupy the number one seat after his brother’s 8 years ending in 2023.

The source claimed that Senator Abaribe was afraid he may be rejected by Abians in a free, fair primary election in the state, hence his unguarded utterances and gimmicks aimed at destroying the party and pave way for an opposition to win election in the state.

Recall that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the highest-ranking PDP office holder by virtue of his position as Senate Minority leader also hails from the same local government and Senatorial zone with the current Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Abaribe has also been accused by a source of negotiating with ADC and SDP to accommodate him should he fail to actualise his ambition in the Peoples Democratic Party.

The alleged plan the Source said, may not be unconnected to the failed attempts to put the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party on their kneels to concede him the three-man ad-hoc as highest ranking member of the party to enable him emerge victorious during the governorship primary.
