The Founder, Vision Africa International, Bishop Sunday Onuoha has appealed to the President Mohammadu Buhari led Federal Government and prominent Igbo Leaders in the South East to find lasting solutions to the security issues in the zone.
The Methodist Bishop who made the appeal at the State Office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while declaring his intention to join the Abia Governorship race, regretted that security issues have affected so many economic development in the South East Geopolitical zone.
The Clergyman stressed the need for the Federal Government to quickly address the case of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; adding that tension is rising in the South East zone due to demand for the release of the IPOB leader.
He urged the Federal Government to provide political solution for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to douse the tension in the South-East.
Bishop Onuoha was of the opinion that if the Federal Government had heeded calls by eminent Igbo leaders, political solutions to the IPOB leader would have ended agitations currently witnessed in the South-East.
He therefore called on prominent Igbo leaders in the zone to rise up to the challenge to tackle the security issues in the area for the common good of the people.
“Let us come together to find solutions to our problems. Why must we be living and building beautiful mansions in Abuja, Lagos and Abroad only to be visiting the South East when it is time for campaign.
“Let every politican, every Igbo leader come together so that we can find solutions to our problems”,the clergyman said.
Bishop Onuoha who reeled out his 11point agenda tagged, “My Dream For Abia”, noted that the primary responsibility of any government is the security and welfare of citizens, and added that if elected governor of the state, he would institute robust security and social welfare for the people as well as ensure job creation, agricultural/rural development and enthrone transparency and accountability among others.
He said that his quest to join Abia gubernatorial race was borne out calls by various groups and consultations with key individuals both at home and in the diaspora.
