Ahead of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), primary elections, an aspirant, Mr. Kelechi Seth Ebere, contesting for Obingwa-East State Constituency, has been caught with a suspected forged Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), during the just concluded PDP screening exercise at PDP office Umuahia, Abia state.
PDP official who pleaded anonimity with our reporter disclosed that the PDP aspirant presented the suspected cloned PVCs during the screening exercise and when properly checked, was discovered to be fake.
In his words: “PDP is a law-abiding party and would not be a party to such criminality”.
He described the incident as unfortunate and assured that appropriate measures would be taken.
Meanwhile, a group known as Alliance for Good Governance, has called on INEC to do everything within her means to protect Nigeria democracy by fishing out people who are determined to scuttle the people’s mandate.
In a letter addressed to INEC and sighted by our reporter, the BOT Secretary of the body, Mr. Ikechukwu Ubani regretted the alleged criminal act of PVC cloning adding that the aspirant would have approached INEC in the wake of any PVC loss or voting unit transfer other than towing the criminal path of PVC cloning.
He called on INEC, PDP among other stakeholders to do the needful and protect Nigeria democracy from being destroyed by desperate politicians.
All efforts to reach the aspirant, Mr. Kelechi Seth Ebere on the alleged PVC cloning proved abortive as calls and text messages sent to him got no response.
