Several Pro groups in Abia state, have donated over #50M as support to the Minister for State, Mines and Solid Minerals,Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah,who declared interest to contest for Abia Governorship come 2023.
The Pro-Groups;Team Ogah, One on One For Ogah, Club 184, Uche Ogah Support Group and others,on their various capacities, raised over #50m as financial assistance to push the Uche Ogah’s dream of becoming Abia’s Number One citizen.
Giving his manifesto at the APC State Secretariat along Nnamdi Azikiwe road,Umuahia, Ogah reeled out his developmental strategies to revamp Abia.
According to him, he would foster the cause of unity among the different clans and sections of the state, bringing about the needed changes.
Ogah said with his ‘High Five’ campaign slogan, Abia’s Economy/Infrastructural development, Education, Health, Security/Crime Control would be addressed.
While narrating his ideas that are geared towards Abia’s development, the two time Governorship Aspirant, said he sees a new Abia where the policies and programmes of the state government would be people centric.
He said he would run a system where the welfare of the people would be his priority.
“My government will have human face, targeting policies that are of maximum advantage to the people,both on the area of pension/salary payment,job creation and others”.
He said he would introduce novelty in governance that supports new ways of doing things rather than the old style of governance that negates innovation and creativity.
Ogah promised to run a system where Abia would become a safe haven for businesses to thrive,with Abians enjoying at its peak, infrastructural and technological advancement.
He said he would open up the hinterland for economy activities to blossom, the same way he opened up his country home,Onuaku in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of the state.”Today,that area is being placed on the world map as a result of the gigantic industry cited in the area”.
The Abia APC Guber aspirant further stated that his vision for a glorious Abia is alive in his heart with his dream of making Abia ranked top as the most developed state among other states.
“My dream for Abia is to make every local area viable, promote unity among the different clans in the state and turn Umuahia to a world Capital city with its topnotch aesthetic look. Aba will be revamped to enable its market product dominate the international market and the area will have zero flood tolerance.
However, Ogah,noted that his contributions to the development of Abia and Nigeria at large,fetched him various Recognitions and Awards, including the Mining Champions Award,Double Business Day Award, National Merit Award (Order Of the Niger), among others.
Giving his antecedent, Uche Ogah noted that under his watch as the Minister overseeing the Ministry for State and Solid Minerals, Nigeria boosted its Gold mining, adding that the nation’s natural resource lying fallow before, were properly harnessed, increasing the revenue base of the Ministry from #2.5b to #10b.
He echoed that he has attracted so many projects to the state and promised to reach out to areas and localities that have not felt government presence if he becomes the Governor.
Ogah further solicited for massive support to actualize his dreams for the state.
On his part, the Director General Abia Rejoice Movement, Hon Chibuzor Solomon Okogbuo, described Uche Ogah as a man that has the capacity to deliver and take Abia to the next level, “no wonder the mammoth crowd that witnessed his declaration”.
He stated that the party is not factionalized, arguing that there is only one APC in Abuja, with branches in other states
In an interview, the former Chairman of the APC in Abia, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, described Uche Ogah as a factor and a man who has shown loyalty to the party.
According to him,Ogah has the capacity to bring changes in the state, assuring that the party would look through all the aspirants under the party and bring out the best that will bring sustainable development to the state, promising that no governorship candidate would be foisted on the people.
