A royal father, Eze Chibuzo Ngwakwe has lauded Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for establishing the first ever Children’s Specialist Hospital in Abia State.
The Royal father stated this during a facility tour he embarked on at the newly built and commissioned health facility located opposite the Central Police Station, Umuahia. He said “I am very pleased that we have a hospital that is specifically designed for children. Coming here to see the neonatal facility where pre-born children will be given special treatment ” He equally commended the state of the arts equipment put in place in the hospital.
The traditional ruler and Eze Okpuala the 3rd of Mgbokoukwu Ancient Kingdom, Obingwa LGA, who doubles as the National President of Abia State National Association of North America described the recently
commissioned hospital as a good beginning and called for a duplication and replication of the hospital in other areas of the State.
Eze Ngwakwe used the opportunity to call on politicians and other stakeholders to sponsor a unit in the hospital and thereby write their names in gold, adding that “with that, we will grow this place and have a network of Abia State Children’s Specialist Hospital in different facilities. That is where we need the impact”
The royal father, who stated that the hospital would provide opportunity for the children to have first hand healthcare treatment appreciated the Executive Secretary of Abia State Diaspora Commission, Dr. (Mrs) Ngozi Ogbonna-Erondu and other Abians in Diaspora for their contributions in achieving the feat.
He said the impart of the healthcare facility on the Children of the State cannot be over emphasised and encouraged the mothers, schools and churches to take advantage of the facility to improve the healthcare of their children.
Taking the Royal father round the facility, the Executive Secretary, Abia State Diaspora Commission, Dr. (Mrs) Ngozi Ogbonna-Erondu said the establishment of the facility was made possible by the efforts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in collaboration with the Diaspora community.
Dr. Ogbonna-Erondu expressed happiness that the Governor by establishing the specialist hospital has been able to achieve great in the two extremes of healthcare, from geriatrics and now to the mother and child, which focuses on newborn to 18 years and enjoined mothers to utilize the facility.
The facilities inspected by Eze Ngwakwe were located in Neonatal ICU Room, Pharmacy Room, Laboratory, X-,ray, Ultrasound, Theatre Room, among others.
