A governorship aspirant in Abia state, Dr Sampson Orji (Scuorji), has revealed that when he becomes the next governor of Abia state, he would not divert any fund for official use to his coffers.
Sampson Orji who made the disclosure at the PDP secretariat, yesterday, when he came in company of his supporters, to officially declare his interest to run for the 2023 gubernatorial election,said he would operate an accountable system where every dime would be adequately acounted for.
According to him,he promised to run an open door policy, taking away the cover of mystery that refuses people access to the Governor.
He stated that he would simplify the office of the governor, running an all inclusive government.
The governorship aspirant further noted that when elected, there will be massive road infrastructures in the state, coupled with a revitalized system where every sector would be functional.
The Abia North Aspirant stated that he is much aware of the paucity of funds in the state,but will go into partnership with companies,as well as adopt the Public Private Partnership (PPP) method and the Build,Operate and Transfer (BOT) to build roads in Abia.
He said in his tenure, the civil service would be revamped, bringing back its pride of place as a noble profession.
Orji noted that he would institute a process of reward and sanctions into the civil service,so as to restore sanity in the system.
“I will be holding quarterly town hall meetings, to discuss and explain to Abians how their monies are being spent and also give them opportunity to ask questions about the state’s finance.
“Accountability, transparency and credibility will be my watch word”,he said.
Responding, the PDP chairman, Rt.Hon Asiforo Okere, commended the qualities of Dr Sampson Orji, who he described as a distinguished personality, that made remarkable feat while serving as a member of the Abia House of Assembly.
The Party chairman, while assuring Orji,as well as other aspirants of a level playing ground,urged them to go and mobilize support ahead of the party primaries.
