Abia Govt Vows To Fish Out Perpetrators Of Recent Killings At New Cattle Market

 

 

Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has vowed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that perpetrators behind the recent killings at the New Cattle Market located in Omumauzor, Ukwa West Local Government Area
are fished out and brought to justice.

Recall that some yet to be identified hoodlums,on Tuesday, 15th February, 2022 during a midnight attack invaded the New Cattle Market, killing some traders, cows while properties were destroyed.

Governor Ikpeazu who paid an assessment visit at the cattle market described the incident as sad and unfortunate noting that Abia has not witnessed such incident in the recent past.

 

Ikpeazu assured that investigations would be deepened to bring to book the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

“It is unfortunate that we have some blood tasty individuals in our midst who take joy in inflicting pain on others.

 

“I want to say that from preliminary investigations,this was not done by indigenes of this community because they provided the refuge for some victims who were attacked.

“Investigations are ongoing and i want to assure Nigerians that we have the capacity to protect lives and property of those that are resident in the state wherever they may come from, it is our primary duty and responsibility.

“I assure you that we will get to the root of this matter and bring to book all this who are involved in this dastardly act.
This kind of thing must stop”, Ikpeazu said.

According to the Governor, a military location would be cited at the New Cattle Market to safeguard the area and forestall future occurrences.

He commiserated with the families of the deceased and all those who lost their items as a result of the attack and promised that government would provide succor to enable them restart their businesses.

 

House of Assembly Member representing Ukwa West, Godwin Adiele, Chairman Ukwa West LGA,Okey Kanu and the Commissioner for Homeland Security,Sopuruchi Bekee accompanied the Governor during the visit.
