EPL: Manchester City, Chelsea Battle for Supremacy

Defending champions, Manchester City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium in one of the week 22 matches of the English Premier League.

The Citizens are 10 points ahead of their visitors, a win today will see them go 11 points clear even if Liverpool win their own encounter against Brentford.

In the reverse fixture in September last year, Manchester City defeated Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge by a lone goal the same score line with which the Blues defeated the Citizens in last season’s Champions League final.

Chelsea will be without Christensen, who tested positive for Covid 19.

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel blamed injuries and Covid 19 for his team’s trailing of their today’s opponents by 10 points, however, he praised Manchester City for their perfect management of their injury and Covid 19 cases that have seen them win 11 consecutive matches in the EPL.

In yesterday’s match, Brighton and Crystal Palace settled their encounter 1-1.

In other fixtures this weekend, Norwich will take on Everton as Wolves seek to devour Southampton.

Newcastle United will take on Emmanuel Dennis’ Watford as Aston Villa will seek to avenge their mid-week FA Cup loss to Manchester United as they host the Red Devils.

It will be a case of who disunite who when West Ham United take on Leeds United while Liverpool will attempt not to walk alone when they welcome Brentford to Amfield.

In a North London Derby, Tottenham Hotspur will take on Arsenal.
