The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon qualified for the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations after they came from behind to crush Ethiopia 4-1 in their second group game.
Raucous home fans inside the Olembe Stadium were silenced when Hotessa Dawa slid home the opener just after four minutes. But, the hosts rallied round and restored parity four minutes later through Karl Toko Ekambi.
After the break, Vincent Aboubakar took his goals tally to four after grabbing a brace before Ekambi scored his own second and Cameroon’s fourth goal of the night.
In the group’s other match, Bande’s 39th minute goal was all Burkina Faso needed to defeat Cape Verde Island.
As it stands, Cameroon have qualified for the round of 16 while Burkina Faso and Cape Verde still have a chance to progress.
Their last group matches will hold on Monday when Cameroon will take on Cape Verde while Burkina Faso lurk horns with Ethiopia.
