Chukwuemeka Egejuru
It was a day of gratitude to God and recollection of humble beginnings when the Vice-Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University or Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe hosted well-wishers at a thanksgiving ceremony at his hometown, Amuda-Isuochi, on Monday.
In his sermon during a thanksgiving church service at the Methodist Church, Amuda-Isuochi to mark the occasion, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kalu Uche, urged worshippers to link their souls with God. The prelate described year 2021 as a remarkable year for the people of Umunnneochi, noting that connecting with God is a sure way to excellence in life.
Speaking during the church service, Prof. Iwe recalled his humble beginnings as an Assistant Lecturer. He noted that his academic path was at some point dotted with so many challenges that he never imagined he would rise through the ranks to become a Vice-Chancellor someday.
The elated VC, who expressed gratitude to God for nudging men to elevate him, noted that the fear of God has helped him navigate through life’s challenges.

Present at the occasion were dignitaries from all walks of life, including the former Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Sen. Sam Egwu, amongst other distinguished government functionaries. Staff members of MOUAU, including the principal officers of the University, were also in attendance.
Guests at the event were treated to a colourful reception at the VC’s country home. The celebrant seized the opportunity to thank the guests for gracing the occasion despite their busy festive season schedules.
