In an efforts to encourage Abians to see farming as an investment to fall back pending the end of corona virus, the wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has distributed tons of fertilisers to farmers in the 17, local government areas of the state.
These efforts she said came from Governor Ikpeazu ‘s support of the programme ‘Aka ajaja na ebute onu mmanu mmanu ‘ a magazine programme we have been using to sensitise Abians and to encourage them to go back to farming.
This fertilisers will go a long way to help the farmers so that their crops yield will also increase.
Receiving the fertilisers at the office of the wife of the Governor in Umuahia, on behalf of the local governments, the secretary of Abia state universal basic education board, Lady Frank Ibe, said that they received this great support with a heart full of gratitude adding that this gesture will lead all to farming.
In a related development, the government of Abia State has dolled out palliatives ranging from cartons of noodles, spaghetti and bales of clothes to the Nigeria Correctional Services in the state.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Barr. Chris Ezem, said that what the government has done is to extend its palliatives to the inmates and to at the same time protect them from being infected at this period of pandemic.
Receiving the items, the Comptroller general of prisons in Abia state, Mr. Julius Ezeugwu, said that these will go ahead to help the inmate.
Ezeugwu, expressed that this is not the first time we are receiving palliatives from the state government ,we have received relief materials and drugs from Abia government and we are really grateful for the support we have been receiving from the Governor since this pandemic.
