INEC Pledges Partnership With MOUAU Alumni Association

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has pledged to partner with Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) Alumni Association in Human Capital Development.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Joseph V.C. Iloh who stated this during a courtesy visit of MOUAU Alumni Association in his office recently, commended the group for embarking on a 1,000-seater capacity lecture theatre which upon completion would be donated to the university.

Iloh described the project as exceptional and promised to be part of the project as an Alumnus of MOUAU.

He called on Abians to be part of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, maintaining that INEC is committed in deepening democracy through credible electoral process.

Earlier in his speech, the National President, MOUAU Alumni Association, Dr. Obasi Igwe Oscar disclosed that the essence of the Association’s visit was to initiate an enduring partnership with the Abia INEC REC, geared basically towards the betterment of the university system and humanity at large.

He informed the INEC boss that the Alumni association of the university had over the years, embarked on alot of projects as a way of giving back to the system that produced them.

In his words: “The Vice-Chancellor, MOUAU, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, had laid the foundation of the 1,000-seater capacity lecture theatre embarked by the MOUAU Alumni Association on Tuesday 27th September 2021 and when completed would be donated to the university to enhance teaching and learning”.

In his remarks, the Chairman, MOUAU Alumni Endowment Committee, Dr. Joe C. Onwumere noted that the lecture theatre when completed would enhance teaching and learning as well as offer a relief to the university system.

In his vote of thanks, the Secretary, MOUAU Alumni Endowment Committee, Dr. D.N. Onunkwo applauded Dr. Iloh for the warm reception and for selflessly repositioning INEC in Abia for the good of all citizenry.

In a related development, the MOUAU Alumni Association has awarded the sum of N100,000 to the best graduating undergraduate and N100,000 for the best graduating postgraduate during MOUAU 10th Convocation.

Fielding question from National Ambassador, the National President of the body, Dr. Obasi, who congratulated the overall best graduating student (undergraduate category), Mr. Uchenna Nkaa and his postgraduate counterpart for the feat, maintained that the cash awards was part of the Alumni body’s move to encourage/sustain excellence in the university system.
