Justify Our Investment In Your Education, Ikpeazu Charges Scholarship Recipients

 

 

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has charged India Scholarship beneficiaries from the State to justify the state government’s investment in their education by focusing in their academic pursuit.

 

Governor Ikpeazu made the call at the Governor’s Lodge Aba when he received the Executive Secretary and members of Abia State Scholarship Board along with beneficiaries of the scheme who are scheduled to depart the country for India on the 9th of October.

 

He further charged them to throw away frivolities that will not support their education and uphold good manners.

The Governor noted that the decision to secure overseas scholarship for Abia youths is driven by his administration’s understanding that capacity building is key and a great vision that is transgenerational.

 

Ikpeazu while noting that despite not being economically convenient in the short run, the state government’s investment in education sector will pay off greatly in the long run.

 

He explained that India was chosen based on their world academic outlook and record in technology and health experts adding that he expects a healthy competitive academic environment for the students.

 

The Governor promised that the Scholarship Board will be in touch with the students through the Nigeria Embassy in India as well as Indian Embassy in Nigeria.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Executive Secretary of the Abia State Scholarship Board, Mr Chukwuka Daniel said that they came to appreciate the Governor and inform him of their readiness to send out the India Scholarship beneficiaries as well as seek his blessings for the beneficiaries.

 

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Okezie Esther thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to them and promised to make Abia and Nigeria proud.
