Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that the proposed Mother and Child Hospital, located opposite Central Police Station, Bende Road Umuahia,which is at its final stage of completion will be commissioned soon.
Speaking after inspecting the facility in company of the First Lady, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu the Commissioner for Health,Dr Joe Osuji,Governor Ikpeazu expressed satisfaction at the progress of work done so far.
The Governor who announced that equipments would soon arrive at the facility said he is impressed at the progress of work done so far at the facility.
“I am happy with the progress of work so far. From what i have seen today, if we stay on it for two weeks from now, i think we would be ready to bring in the equipments so that we can officially commission this facility. I am looking at sometime towards the end of November this year”.
According to him, the state has already taken delivery of two container load of medical equipments even as government was procuring more medical facilities.
The Governor said that Government was committed to providing state of the art facilities including Laboratory facilities, Radiography and functional Theatre facilities to take care of specialist issues concerning children and mothers.
Secretary to the State Government Barr. Chris Ezem also accompanied the Governor to inspect the facility.
