Ikpeazu Makes Donations, Grieves With The Family Of The Deceased 4, Children

The wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has commiserated with the family of Mr. Chibuzo Ikwunze, who lost his four children in one fell swoop on the 25th of August 2021, in Umuahia the capital city of Abia state in a yet to be determined circumstances.

The late children, kelechi aged 12, Chimdi aged 10, Oluomachi aged 8 and Kingsley aged 3 had gone for holidays at the home of a friend of the family when they had met their untimely death.

Their host Mr. Sunday Ogba, and his two children, Master James Okechukwu Ogba 17, and Miss. Precious Eberechi Ogba 14, also succumbed to the death owning to had eaten barbecued meat popularly known as suya and taken a fruit juice brought home by the now deceased father.

Mrs. Ikpeazu, who paid a visit to the bereaved family at their country home, at Umuagu Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the State, said she had come to condole with the family over the sad, disheartening  and unfortunate incident, and urged the family to take heart and be consoled by the word of God.

The Abia First Lady who was represented by the Principal Secretay Office of the Wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs. Love Ezema, recalled that as soon as the incident happened, Governor Ikpeazu, dispatched a team to the Federal Medical Center Umuahia that ensured that the survivors were treated promptly and also paid their medical bills.

Ezema explained that Governor Ikpeazu, further directed and funded the management of the FMC Umuahia, to ensure that thorough autopsy be performed to determine what led to this unfortunate incident and as soon as the result is out it will be made public.

However, Mrs. Ikpeazu, expressed sympathy to the mother of the four children, praying that God will grant the heartbroken woman the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The Abia First Lady also donated towards the burial of the kids.

In his remarks, Mr. Chibuzo Ikwunze, who fought to hold back his tears thanked the Governor’s wife for her motherly care and for reaching out to the  family in this moment of grief.

Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Patrick Emenike, who welcomed the First Lady to the community described the action of the first lady as very kind and magnanimous.

He said the incident was very unusual, prayed that it will never happen again to any family in the state and expressed gratitude to the Governor for the role he played when the incident occurred.
