Royal fathers in Arochukwu have commended the Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu state constituency in Abia state House of Assembly (ABHA), Hon. Dr. Mike Onyekwere Ukoha for facilitating/building another classroom-office block for Mary Slessory Primary School Arochukwu, Abia state.
Speaking during a handover ceremony, in Arochukwu, Abia State recently, HRM, Eze Ibom Isii, Eze Kanu Nwa Kanu Okereke disclosed that Hon. Ukoha has impressed him, adding that he has demonstrated high level of selflessness having earlier completed/ handed over similar project in Aggrey Memorial Primary School in Arochukwu.
In his words: “I attended this school many decades ago, I know how bad the school has degenerated to before this intervention. We are proud of Hon. Ukoha, he has improved the fortunes of Arochukwu people with numerous empowerment programmes“.
In their separate remarks, Eze Okoroafor Uro Okoroafor and Eze Ogo Mazi Ndubuisi Oji, they decried that those that represented Arochukwu in the past in ABHA did not attract anything meaningful for them except Ukoha who has changed the narrative, insisting that he would also represent them again come 2023.
Meanwhile, the Vice President Nzuko Aro, home branch, Mazi Ndubuisi Onwuchekwa and the former Head Teacher of the School Mary Slessor Primary School Arochukwu, Madam Beatrice Oji noted that the school used to be in a dilapidated state until Ukoha came on board, proved his mettle and gave the school a new look.
They promised to give him the needed support to excel in his endeavors.
In a related development, the Arochukwu LGA, Education Secretary, Mrs Ann Nwankwo represented by Mrs Regina Kanu expressed joy over the newly built classroom/office block by Hon. Ukoha, stating that the lawmaker has done alot in the Arochukwu 19 villages, Ututu, Ihechiowa, and Abam within his two years in ABHA.
In her remarks the Headmistress, Arochukwu Town School 1, (Mary Slessor) Amannagwu Arochukwu Mrs Nwafor, R.I, who hailed Ukoha for his contribution towards their school, revealed that for many years, pupils, teachers, and Head Teacher have been sitting in an unconducive/ un-habitable classroom until the building of the classroom/office block.
She expressed confidence that the new edifice would improve their lives and attitude towards teaching and learning
In his reaction, the minority whip/members representing Arochukwu state constituency in ABHA, has urged the people of Arochukwu to cherish and protect Government properties in their community from willful damages especially in this era of paucity of funds.
Ukoha who thanked the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for signing the Diaspora Commission Bill into law urging Abians to expect tremendous investment from Abians in Diaspora.
He said that with the appointment of Mrs. Ngozi Erondu as the Acting Executive Secretary of the commission, the creation of several small scale industries to boost job opportunities for the teeming unemployed population.
