Graduands have been charged to take their studies seriously with a view to contribute meaningfully to the nation building.
The Chairman, Parents Teachers Association,PTA, of De-Rock Christ Nursery and Primary School, Asaba, Delta State, Mr Onwnwa Kannayo, made the call during the 9th Graduation ceremony of the school, further advised the graduating pupils to desist from any distractive channels that is capable of hindering them from achieving their goals in life.
He frowned at the nonchalant attitude of parents and guardians to PTA meetings reminding them that most issues about the welfares of their children and wards are discussed in such gathering adding that every parent’s opinions are indispensable in order to maintain standard of the school.
Also speaking, the chairman on the occasion , Mr Bugewa Frank, in his speech, while expressing gratitude to God for life, advised the graduating pupils to remain good ambassadors of the school.
The Proprietress of the school, Mrs. Charity Emmanuel, in her welcome address, thanked God for a successful school session and the survival of her pupils during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She thanked the parents and guests for their efforts and support and urged the graduating pupils never to relent studying and do the school and their parents proud by living examplary life.
Earlier in her welcome address, on behalf of the Nursery school graduating pupils, Miss Amanda Nweze, stated that the school has recorded tremendous success, academically, morally and spiritually, noting that the level of learning has gone high compared to some of the schools within their vicinity.
She affirmed that the pupils are sharp and intelligent and always ready to deliver back what they were taught as a result of the uniqueness in the teaching, adding that teachers are trained before they are sent to the classroom to teach.
Speaking with one of the graduating pupils, Miss Onyinyechi Nzenwa, said she was excited to becoming a Primary school graduand adding that the graduating means a new level for her.
She stated that her school was quite good as she was properly taught, while promising to put to practice all the knowledge and basic skills she acquired.
She advised her Junior pupils to be careful of the kind of friends they keep do what is right in class, listen and be serious with their studies.
While speaking on how to handle her future encounters,” I will have to be careful when i enter secondary school, i don’t want to be involved in any negative drama that will jeopardize my future, i will be focused and serious with my studies, obey instructions given to me, so that i won’t be distracted in the achievement of my set goals and plans, which is to becoming a Lawyer and help my clients in the fight for justice”.
The ceremony featured presentations from KG 1,2,3, Primary 6, recitation, ballet dance, cultural dance, cutting of cake, among others.
