Rivers CLO condemns killing of Security men

The Civil Liberty Organization (CLO), in Rivers State has condemned the senseless killing of security men in Rivers State.

The state chairman of the Civil Society Organization (CLO), Sotonye George in an interview with our reporter said no one, not even the attackers will survive if the security agencies are withdraw from their duty post. Adding that it will be a state of anarchy for everybody.

Mr Sotonye George reveals that Civil Society Organization feels that the police are also victims of bad government and circumstances. Therefore, do not deserve death.

The CLO chairman in Rivers State advised those who are attacking the police men and the security men to have a rethink because it is not the best. He insisted that the security men are innocent in the bad governance issue.

The state chairman of the CLO Sotonye George however, said that the best approach towards the fighting crime has gone beyond using boarder closure and curfews but to fight crime by using technology search, CCTV cameras, satalite mount and other modern gadgets.

He further explained that people should be engaged with the right technological equipment and where necessary, government should engage foreign partners to assist in the fight against crime.

Recall that recently, gunmen attack multiple police checkpoints in Rivers State and killed some police officers.

Still on insecurity, a security expert Sam Lenu has cautioned the Federal Government against payment of ransom for the release of kidnap victims.

Mr Lenu in an interview with our reporter said the Federal Government may be seen to have compromise in the fight against insecurity if any ransom is paid to kidnappers or bandits.

Mr Lenu stressed that payment of ransom will amount to supporting criminality. Adding that those bad boys will lavish the money and buy more sophisticated weapons for more attacks.

He further urge the Federal Government to collaborate with other foreign agencies like the United States of America, to fight against crime in Nigeria.’
