Innoson Motors Supports Agriculture,Pays #2.5M Counterpart Funds For Farmers In Nigeria

 

 

As part of measure to boost the nation’s economy through Agriculture, the Chief Executive Officer,  Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma, has supported farmers in Nigeria with the sum of #2.5M counterpart fund, to enable them access the five million U.S dollars Agric loan from the European Funding Agency.

Revealing the cheering news to the press in Umuahia, the National President of the Apex of Farmers Cooperative Societies,Chief Uzoma Nwogwugwu,who was once the Abia State president of the Cooperative, said the executive council of the National Apex of Nigerian Farmers Cooperative Societies (NANFACOS) Ltd and its 33 state farmers cooperative presidents had a meeting in Abuja over the willingness of an European Agency to fund the NANFACOS.

According to Nwogwugwu, the Board of Trustee of the body,representing the South East zone,Chief Innocent Chukwuma OFR,chairman Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company,Nnewi, released the 1% value of the fund,being demanded as counterpart fund by the European Agency, making the farmers cooperative qualified for the Agric business loan that would support farmers to boost agriculture.

The NANFACOS President stated that the loan would among other things help boost the agricultural sector of the economy.

He pointed out that NANFACOS is a non governmental organization, set to seek after the welfare of the entire Nigerian Co-operative farmers engaged into crops and livestock production, processing, marketing and agro- allied products and services.

Nwogwugwu added that his organization monitors,controls and supervises the activities of the primary, secondary and states cooperative apex bodies for the purpose of complimenting the efforts of the Federal government,as well as the Abia state government in the Agric sector.

The National Farmer while appreciating the CEO of Innoson Motors,Chief Innocent Chukwuma,for his constant support and advice to ensure that the Nigerian Cooperative farmers have a sense of belonging in the society,said the support from members of the BOT would assist in making sure farmers are productive and reliant.

He stated that the appointment of more members into the Board of Trustees, would further make Nigeria known in Agriculture, particularly on the area of food production and as well tackle some challenges confronting the nation, including job opportunities and wealth creation.

However,Nwogwugwu, commended the giant efforts of the Minister of Special Duties and the Department of Cooperatives, Ministry of Agriculture, for making NANFACOS their brain child and using it to turn the fortune of the grass root cooperative farmers.

The National President, further revealed that NANFACOS has appointed six advisers to represent and boost Agricultural activities in the different geopolitical zones of the nation,with the chairman of Niger State Traditional Rulers Council, Rtd Brigadier General Yahaya Abubakar (OFR), representing North Central zone,HRH,Amb Apppolus Chu, The Oneh Eh Nchia X,Egbere Okori 1 of Eleme Kingdom,Rivers state, for South South zone,His Imperial Majesty,Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunnusi,Ooni of Ife, Osun State, representing South West zone,then Chief Innocent Chukwuma,CEO Innoson Motors is representing the South East zone,while Alhaji Nasiru Daura,represents the North West zone, alongside Hajia Aisha Abba Aji from Borno state, representing North East.
