Abia Govt To Evolve Sustainable Master Plan For Socio Economic Development

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed his administration’s commitment to institute a master plan that would fast track even socio-economic development and boost urban renewal in the State.
The Governor said that the State government is focused on providing a platform that would promote sustained development in the state which will stand as a guide for future administrations.
Ikpeazu stated this, Tuesday, at Governing House Umuahia, when members of the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) paid him a courtesy visit.
He noted that plans were underway to evolve a sustainable master plan that would be used in addressing the “haphazard development pattern” in Abia State.
“It will surprise you to know that before we came into office, Abia was without a master plan, but today I am proud to say that we have a mid-term and long-term economic development plan.
“I am also proud to say that we are working on a master plan for Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia.
“The haphazard development pattern in these three major cities is as a result of the absence of a master plan,” he said.
Earlier, the National President of UNAA, Mr Ben Okoronkwo, commended the state government on its numerous infrastructural achievements aimed at improving the wellbeing of citizens.
Okoronkwo, who was represented by the Secretary of the Association,Mr Samuel Nwariaku, described Ikpeazu as a pragmatic leader, who is focused on transforming the state.
According to him, the government under the watch of Governor Ikpeazu has evolved numerous policies and programmes which made far-reaching positive implications on the citizenry.
He urged the state government not to relent in its efforts in transforming the state into an investors’ haven.
The visit featured the conferment of an Award of Excellence on Governor Ikpeazu for his contributions in Education, Agriculture and Infrastructural Development.
