COVID 19: Ukwa-East council boss identifies numerous links as a challenge against border closure

The Transition Committee (T.C) Chairman, Ukwa-East East Local Government Area (L.G.A.), Abia State ,Chief Stella Igbokwe, has identified the numerous link roads between Ukwa East in Abia State and Akwa Ibom as the only challenge she is facing in the fight against boundary closure so as to prevent the spread of COVID 19 pandemic in the area.

The Council boss who stated this while interacting with National Ambassador at the Council Headquarters, Akwete recently listed some of those link communities to include Azumini, Akirika-Uku, Akirika-Nta, Akanu, Akirika–Obu via Ibeme in Obingwa L.G.A, among others.
Hon. Igbokwe, however, hailed the police, the vigilantee group, youths and other security outfits for assisting in curbing the infiltration of Akwa-Ibom people and Almajiri into the area.

She further disclosed that a major security crisis between Azumini and Iwukem in Akwa-Ibom State boundary was averted through prompt intervention of her office with the security agents and Azumini traditional ruler.

“Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu cannot be everywhere that’s why he has sent me to be here at this time. I will do my best to see that the people of Ukwa-East and their property are adequately protected”, she further maintained.

She called on Ndoki people to be sensitive security conscious, report and suspected movements to relevant authorities and adhere strongly to COVID 19 precautionary measures and continue to support Governor Ikpeazu in his efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to Ukwa-East and the entire Abia.
