Abia Transition Committee Chairmen Calls For Transparency in Sharing Palliatives

Isuikwuato TC Chairman, Dr. Igbe(L) and his Obingwa Council counterpart Chief Kingsley Nnaji at Abia Govt House. 

The Transition Committee Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA, Dr. Osita lgbe said that it is important to maintain transparency in the distribution of the palliatives donated by government as autonomous communities remains the best approach to distribute the items .

Igbe, explains that his council has taken proactive measures by creating a Covid 19, Relief Committee in every autonomous community with the mandate to discover the actual vulnerable groups and less privileges among them for distribution.

The Isuikwuato Council boss however advised his people to adhere to all the safety measures laid out by government and health workers such as maintaining social distance,washing of hands with soap under running water, applying sanitizers as well as stay away from markets to reduce the chances of contracting the virus .

He expressed satisfaction that the security agencies are improving in checkmating the influx of people from other state at the border areas and commend Governor Ikpeazu for his magnanimity in accommodating every interest group and political camps in the distribution of the palliatives, describing as criminal and a cause for anyone to divert gifts meant for the vulnerable .

Contributing, his Obingwa Council boss counterpart, Chief Kinsley Nnaji also commended the Governor for extending palliatives that helped in alleviating the burden of the less privileged at the local government levels.

Nnaji who double as the Chairman Association of Local Government Of Nigeria in Abia, after receiving food items and personal protective materials donated to Obingwa LGA as part of the ongoing Government palliatives to communities in the 17 LGAs held at the office of the wife of the Governor, Government House, Umuahia assured  journalists that they would do the needful by ensuring that the items gets to the most vulnerable groups in the Councils.

The state algon chaiman attributed the success recorded so far in Abia is by creating awareness on the Covid 19 pandemic and aggressive sensitization programme embarked upon by management of the Council through engaging the services of town criers, posters and leaflets educating the people on the need to stay at home and observe all the safety measures as directed by health experts.
