Mrs. Ikpeazu waves at the children
The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu has called for the right of children all over the world to be respected.
The Governor’s wife made the call at Remand Home, Ovom in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State during a party she organized to welcome Abia children from the 17 LGA into the year 2020.
She said that children suffers most during wars and prays that every necessary action needs to be taken to avoid war.
She maintained that her focus this year are to advocate extensively for the right of children to quality of life, good education and quality health care for all children.
According to her, “I put this party together to celebrate the children of Abia State because over the past years they have been making us proud by coming first in West Africa Examination Council (waec) throughout Nigeria, these shows that Abia children are well trained in character and learning and I encourage them to keep the hard work in progress”.
I assure you that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is committed to your welfare that is why he is building and equiping schools so that you remain at the top of your class.
For parents and guardian the Governors wife urged them to treat their children as jewels stressing that within the children lies the presidents, governors, doctors, engineers and other professionals we can imagine but these can only manifest when we as parents and guardian bring them up with confidence and in good morals.
However, Mrs. Ikpeazu, advised the children to run away from vices and other delinquencies to become role models to their peers.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Ukachi Amala, states that this is first of its kind that the First Lady of the state is seriously pushing for the right of the children and at the same time organising a party to touch their lives with gifts and school items because she feels what every child feels here.
Amala lament the rampant use of children to hawk items on the road instead of sending them to school and warns that her ministry through the support of the state government is coming out with a strategy to end the menace.
Meanwhile, Mr. Linus Chinonyerem testifies on how he grew up from remand home to become somebody today and prays God to bless the Governor’s wife for touching live and at the same time being a source of encouragement for a new chapter of life for them.
