Abia Automated Shoe Factory: Gov Ikpeazu expresses satisfaction.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far for the takeoff of the Abia Automated Shoe Factory which has reached an advanced level with the installation of various types of equipments.

Speaking after being conducted round the shoe factory located at Umuokeahia in Obingwa LGA,the Governor said his decision to establish a shoe factory in the state was a product of his visits to China.

Accompanied by the Commissioner for Industry Mrs Uwaoma Olewengwa and her Information counterpart Chief John Okiyi Kalu,the Governor thanked the coordinators as well as the team from China for a great job during the procurement and installation of the equipments and urged them to ensure that everything is properly put in place to meet up with the deadline.

He disclosed that efforts are on top gear to provide alternative source of power in the factory.

The Governor who revealed his intention to make the factory a mini-shoe village, directed that a canteen and other facilities needed should be provided at the factory.

Conducting the Governor round the factory, the coordinator of the Abia Automated Shoe Factory, Mr Sam Hart and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Investment and Job Creation, Mr Chinenye Nwogu said ninety percent of the machines installed in the factory can hardly be seen in any factory across the country.

While announcing that the machines have been tested and confirmed good for the work, the duo hinted adding that all kinds of shoes can be produced in the factory.

According to them, the Shell Petroleum Development Company has indicated interest to provide alternative power source to the factory.
