CAF CONFEDERATION CUP: Enyimba, Rangers Progress To Group Stage

Nigeria’s two representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba International of Aba and Enugu Rangers have qualified for the group stage of the competition after they saw off their respective opponents.

The People’s Elephant traveled to South Africa to take on TS Galaxy, whom they handed a 2-0 defeat in the first leg played at the Enyimba International Stadium.

Ghanaian import, Daniel Dankwah opened scoring for the visitors on the 78th minute after a goalless first half. Usule Martins doubled Enyimba’s lead four minutes later.

A minute from time Terence Mashego pulled one back for the home side, but it was too little too late as Enyimba won on a 4-1 aggregate.

The Flying Antelopes, Rangers International of Enugu lost their first leg encounter to ASC Kara of Togo 2-1 and they knew that anything less than a victory will spell doom for them.

Eziekwe Chinomso scored the only goal of the second leg on the 18th minute, which ensured that Enugu Rangers qualified on the away goals rule as the aggregate score line stood at 2-2.

Other teams that qualified for the group stage include Al-Nasr of Libya, Al-Nasry of Egypt, Zanaco of Zambia and Horoya of Guinea.

The draws for the group stage will take place on November 10.
