Body of late John Aguiyi Ironsi laid to rest

 

The remains of late Chief John Aguiyi lronsi, son of the 1st Military Head of Head , General Aguiyi lronsi (RTD) have been laid to rest at his country Umuana lhie Ndume in Umuahia North LGA.

The state governor,Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu speaking while condoling the bereaved family after a Requiem Mass at the St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Afara Ibeku Umuahia, described the demise of Johnny, a son of the first military Head of State and illustrious son of Abia and Nigeria as a very painful and sad news having contributed his best and to the success of the last and present administrations in various capacities.

Dr. Ikpeazu represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu further urged the family to take heart since death is beyond the control of man and expressed joy that the deceased lived a very good Christian life of service to God and humanity.

The Governor enjoined those he left behind to uphold all his sterling legacies, praying God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In his condolence message, the Senator representing Abia central senatorial zone, Chief. T.A. Orji said although Jonny died a young man, testimonies available attests that he affected life positively which is the whole essence of life and prayed God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Responding on behalf of the family, Amb. Thomas Aguiyi lronsi who recalled that death must come to every mortal, promised to always pray for the peaceful repose of their brother’s soul and thanked the State Govt and all for coming to identified with them at their trying moment.
Late Chief John Aguiyi lronsi aged 54 is survived by his Mother, Lady Victoria Aguiyi lronsi, a daughter, siblings and a host of other relatives.

The burial ceremony attracted the presence of federal and state govt officials, and other notable personalities.
