Rivers State Police Command says two persons were killed in Alakahia and Rumuekini axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State over the weekend. Spokesman of the command Nnamdi Omoni spoke to our reporter that full scale investigation have been lunched following the killings. DSP Omoni who did not give the details of the circumstances that led to their death said the command is determined in fetching out the killers. He said officials from its intelligent unit have been deployed to visit the two communities to ascertain what led to the renewed killings in those areas. Recalled that the father of three, Nwozuruaka Anele was shut death by unknown gunmen in Alakahia community on Saturday. Late Anele, a popular stakeholder in Alakahia community was killed in front of his family after his home was attacked at about 2am. Meanwhile, Eze Daniel Ogbonna who says he is the Paramount ruler of Alakahia community had called on the university of Port Harcourt and the Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital to partner with the community in improving security. Eze Daniel Ogbonna however said security measures have been enhanced to ensure that members of the community sleep with both eyes closed. ” there are adequate plan on ground to stop further occurrences. We are working with the police to make sure that Alakahia community is sanitize. We are assuring the entire public and those doing business in Alakahia community of safety. We also want to call on the Management of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and the University of Port Harcourt to assist us in providing security. It should not be the sole responsibility of the community to provide security of their staff and their students ” he stated.
