Fight for corruption should be the concern of every Nigerian-Shodipo

The Akwa Ibom state commissioner on the Independence corrupt practices commission ( ICPC) Shola Shodipo, has stated that the fight for corruption should not be left in the hands of anti corruption agencies alone, but should be the concern of every Nigerian.

The ICPC boss stated this during a two day workshop training in using budget data and freedom of information art in fighting corruption, which took place in Uyo.

He said that every Nigerian should take active part in budget tracking in order to cut corruption in the country, stating that budget tracking is one of the tools that can be used to check misuse of founds by public officials.

Shodipo noted that without budget tracking approved financial resources meant for specific projects will be diverted and will not get to the end users.

According to him Nigerians must accept to show concern in approved budgetary matters with the view to insuring that budget produces value for the money which is beneficiary to the society.

The ICPC boss regretted that corruption has impacted negatively on the social welfare project which has direct bearing in the lives of ordinary people.
