The Abia House of Assembly candidate for the Isuikwuato state constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2019 general elections, Dr Francis Eleizu, among other Abians, has advised the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to make workers’ welfare his priority in his second tenure.
Dr Eleizu who spoke with National Ambassador in Umuahia, said if the governor should receive any relief fund, workers should be considered first.
He said the state government should create avenue to generate fund, curtail the rate they employ people into the civil service, so that the available fund could cater for the salaries of those working thereby putting to a stop the issue of non payment of salaries.
He added that the Enyimba Economic City project should be pursued until actualization as it has the capacity to boost the state’s economy.
In a related development, the president, Abia State Amalgamated Traders Association (ASAMATA), Chief Emeka Emechebe, called on the government to look into the development of roads in their markets especially Aba area.
Emechebe, prayed God to grant the governor wisdom to pilot the affairs of Abians and enjoined traders not to relent in the payment of their taxes so that more infrastructural works could be done in their markets.
The former executive chairman of Ukwa West, Hon Goodluck Nwaobiwe praised the governor’s performance in his first tenure despite the series of court cases that confronted him.
Nwaobiwe, however, expressed optimism that the governor would surpass the record of his first tenure, urging Abians not to drop their support for the governor.
