The chairman Akwa Ibom State road and other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency ( AKRIMA), Prince Godwin Ntumude has urged Engineers to build roads and other infrastructure according to specification.
Prince Ntumude made the recommendation when he received the executive committee Nigerian Civil Engineers Uyo branch in his office.
Ntumude attributed the presence of potholes on some roads in Uyo to improper construction and warned that creating structures on water ways as well as constructing gutters may lead to flooding.
He charged the group to research on new modern ways as well as materials on maintaining the roads.
AKRIMA assured assured the group of the agency’s readiness to partner with them in the retraining of their staff to maintain roads and other infrastructures in the state.
The chairman also encouraged students of tertiary institutions to use the agency for Industrial Attachment( IT)in order to broaden their knowledge in Engineering profession.
Earlier in his address the chairman executive committee Nigerian Civil Engineers Uyo branch Engineer James Mbiang, pointed out that they were on a courtesy visit to the chairman to encourage the agency to patronize local consultants in road maintenance, saying that it would promote the concept of local content development to boost local industries, create jobs and ultimately create wealth.
Engineer Miang encouraged the agency to put in place mechanism for continuous improvement of its personnel to face the rising challenges of 21st century maintenance system through research development and invasions.
The group through its state chairman presented a proposal that will help contribute immensely to the overall planning, execution and delivery of projects for the benefit of the state.
