President Buhari, advises Nigerian Children to desist from illegal use of drugs, other abusive substances

Nigeria Children have been urged to desist from illegal use of drug and other abusive substances that can endanger life.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who gave this admonition during the 2019, Children’s Day Celebration in Abuja, featured by the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, and monitored by Abia Newspaper and Publishing Corporation,ANPC, publishers of National Ambassador Newspapers, advised children to avoid bad association.

Buhari, who was represented by the Hon Minister, Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bello, while discussing on the theme for 2019, celebration ” Drug Abuse among Children against the Challenges “, noted that drug has remained a major threat in the society, added that some of the children have engaged in substances that has caused medical diseases which has also resulted in violence and cult activities as this will impart negatively on the healthcare delivery system, among others.

He called on the parents and other stakeholders in the society to work together in order to address the menace of drug abuse and safeguard their future and that of Nigeria.

The President stressed on the need for parents to always monitor the activities of their children by spending reasonable amount of time with them as to know their activities.

Buhari, who noted that his administration has contributed immensely to ensuring that children’s welfare is given adequate attention, recalled that enabling learning environment, school feeding programme etc, has been made available in public schools as well as improving immunization programmes to eliminate communicable and non communicable diseases among children as a method of reducing infant morality.
