Candidate of the Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP) in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Abia State , Chief Charles Okereke, has congratulated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his landslide victory at the polls, describing the election as free and fair.
This is against the backdrop of calls by opposition on INEC to cancel the gubernatorial election which culminated in the victory of governor Ikpeazu.
Briefing journalists at Government House Umuahia, in company of the state party Chairman,Ifeanyi Mgbemena, Okereke noted that the victory of governor Ikpeazu is victory for all Abians hence the need to join hands with the governor irrespective of party affiliation to develop the state.
The Guber candidate advised opposition parties in the state to sheath their swords and channel their resources to state development instead of litigations which he said will slow down the wheel of progress and development in Abia state.
“We need to join hands with Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in moving the state forward instead of grudges and wasting personal, party and state resources in going to court.
“Our resources this time around should not end in court but in both state and human development in Abia state”,he said.
While commending INEC for a peaceful conduct of the elections in Abia State,Okereke assured the governor of the support of his party in state development.
