Abia first Lady charges female students to take studies seriously

 

The President of Vicar Hope Foundation and the Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has encouraged students under the Foundation’s Scholarship Board to continue soaring in their studies for a better future.

 

The Governor’s wife stated this at her Government House office as she presents school materials, books and other items to Miss Chinyere Favour, an SS2 student from Ndume Otuka Secondary school who though a science student shows brilliance in writing poetry while Miss Nwabuwa Anita, an SSI student from Amakama Secondary school was selected by the board for her courage to resist a rapist who wanted to abuse her.

According to the Governor’s wife, one of the objectives of the foundation is to develop the girl child.

 

She encouraged the students to develop clubs where teachers will explain better to them on how to resist abusers.

 

One of the board member of the foundation and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs, Dr. Mrs. Nnenna Chikezie who spoke with National Ambassador newspaper, said that the foundation is going beyond its spheres of coverage into human capital development.

 

According to her, beyond the girl child, the foundation is also training the youths in various skills acquisition to stand their feet in a successful economic part way.

In their separate speeches, Chinyere Favour of Ndume Otuka Secondary school said that the scholarship did not only encourage her to be serious with her studies but has given her hope that girl’s future does not end in the kitchen, while Miss Nwabuwa Anita from Amakama Secondary school said that she never knew she would be able to defend herself but was encouraged by what her Teacher taught her in school.

 

However, the principals of the two schools said that the scholarship has indeed raised the moralities of the students and competence among themselves.
