- The Transition Committee Chairman nominee for Aba North Local Government Council of Abia State, and the immediate past Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, in Abia State, Barr. Charles Esonu, has said that the only way to recover Nigeria is for electorate to turnout en masse in the general elections and vote according to their conscience.
Esonu who disclosed this today while speaking with newsmen shortly after his screening at the Abia State House of Assembly complex alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, led administration is responsible for the economic hardship, social and political problems confronting Nigeria, adding that the only way out is for the people to participate fully in general polls with a view to vote out the ruling APC.
While answering questions on the poor voting attitude the South Easterners exhibited during the 2015 Presidential election, Esonu described it as laxity from the electorate but expressed confidence that the orientation has changed and would improve in the February 16 polls, noting that the 6million registered voters recorded so far in Abia would yield a better result for PDP.
He, therefore, urged Abians to reelect Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the developmental strides accomplished in the State and also vote all the PDP candidates in the coming general elections.
In another development, the Arochukwu Local Government Area Transition Committee Chairman designate, Mr. Princely Kingsley Mgunu, urged the people not to have any mixed feelings on the Party to vote for adding that Abians should tilt towards PDP with a view that it is the only party to get Nigerians out of the troubling economic crises.
“If we really want our economy to be saved and we want hope for our children, then the place to go is PDP”, he stated.
Mgunu also condemned the recent fire that gutted the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area where over 15,000 Permanent voter cards, PVCs, were burnt including the destruction of card readers and other voting materials in Anambra State lately.
He described it as malicious act, and alleged that some miscreant elements must be responsible for the mishap.
The incoming TC Chairman, however, urged the Agencies saddled with the responsibilities to fish out the culprits and prosecute them accordingly with respect to the law.
