Political Parties in Abia state have been urged to eschew violence and rancour during the forthcoming general elections in the state as 10 governorship candidates signed Peace Accord.
State Resident Electoral Commissioner Abia state, Dr Joseph Iloh made this known during the signing of peace accord by registered political parties in the state.
According to Dr Iloh the peace accord is a step to demonstrate true desire for peace among various political parties.
He noted that INEC was committed towards conducting free, fair, credible and non-violence elections in the state.
In a remark one of the conveners of the peace accord and President Vision Africa Radio Bishop Dr Sunday Onuoha urged the candidates not to allow the outcome of the election to divide them.
He advised the candidates to make their campaign issue-based devoid of hate speeches.
Speaking shortly after signing the peace accord, the three contending Governorship candidates including Dr Uche Ogah (APC), Governor Okezie Ikpeazu (PDP), and Dr Alex Otti of APGA promised to abide by the rules and regulations governing the elections.
