The first half had ended goalless before the West Africans rallied round to score twice in the second half to grab all three points.
Yahaya Nafizi opened scoring on the 55th minute before Maxwell Effiom made it two on the 71st minute.
In the first match played earlier, the host Niger Republic and South Africa settled for a 1-1 draw.
On Sunday action will shift to group B where Senegal will take on Mali while Burkina Faso tackle Ghana.
