Ovungwu community pledges to re-elect Abia Speaker

The people of Ovungwu Community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State have demonstrated their solidarity support to the Speaker of Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu assuring him of their bloc vote in the coming general polls.

Speaking on behalf of the people, a Grassroot politician, Hon. Nnaemeka Nwogu highlighted some problems confronting the community as deplorable roads, unemployment of their youths, inability of famers to access farm materials adding that they had been in darkness for six years due to lack of electricity and appealed to the Speaker to come to their aid.

Earlier the convener of the people and an illustrious son of the community, Engr. Philip Ugochukwu Ufomba, urged the people of the community to obtain their PVCs noting that it’s the only way they will elect candidates of their choice under platform of People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

He thanked the Speaker for visiting the Ovungwu Community and assured him of their unalloyed support in his reelection bid enroute to the general elections.

Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu expressed gratitude for the warmth reception accorded him and assured the people of fair representation and quality democracy dividends stating that he was not in the community for campaigns but to feel and share in the plight of his constituents.

He remarked with pleasure that since he was elected as a Lawmaker and Speaker of the House of Assembly, he had embarked on numerous people oriented projects including building and rehabilitation of roads across Isiala Ngwa South, promising that the people of his constituency would gradually feel the impact of his representation greatly.

Hon. Kalu urged the people to turnout en masse in February 16, and March 2, this year, to vote in all the PDP candidates to ensure better governance and service delivery.
