A socio- political group, the old Bende community and leaders forum, has commended the harmonious working relationship between the state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, just as they endorsed their candidatures for next month general elections.
The group during a courtesy call on the deputy governor, Sir Oko Chukwu at his office Government House, Umuahia further promised to mobilised the people of old Bende including those living in Aba to support the reelection of the governor and his deputy.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the group, Hon SK Chukwu said that they were proud of Sir Chukwu on the way he has carried himself since becoming the deputy governor even during his days as the Speaker of the state House of Assembly.
He said that the people of Bende are solidly behind Dr Ikpeazu and Sir Oko Chukwu and assured that they would come out emasse to canvass for their re- election and other PDP candidates.
Hon Chukwu appealed for assistance to enable them galvanized massive votes in old Bende for Dr Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates come next month general elections.
Responding, Sir Oko Chukwu expressed happiness for the visit and thanked them for coming out openly to show their support to the candidature of Dr Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates .
He described them as worthy ambassadors of old Bende in Aba and urged them to continue to support the present state government stressing that the governor’s bid was in line with Abia charter of equity and that it remains the right of the Abia south to complete their two term as the other zones have done same in the past.
The deputy governor stressed the need for old Bende people to come out enmass to support their brother from the south to complete their term as for similar support to be extended to them tomorrow when the pendulum will shift.
He thanked them for choosing him as their grand patron and pray to God to help him to live up to expectations and pledged to partner with them for the good of Abia.
