Wounded Lions Roar Loudest”: Iroh Blasts PDP for ‘Desperate Lies’ Against Oko Chukwu, Says Party Is Crumbling Under Its Own Failures
In a strongly worded statement, former Chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area, Comrade O’Brien Iroh, has fired back at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abia State Chapter over what he described as a politically motivated and malicious campaign of falsehood targeted at former Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu.
Reacting to the PDP’s recent press release attacking Oko Chukwu’s resignation from the party, Iroh dismissed the party’s claims as “baseless, desperate, and deceitful.” He described the PDP’s actions as an emotional outburst from a political structure in decline.
“If his resignation truly isn’t a loss, why is the PDP crying louder than the bereaved?” Iroh asked. “Even a day-old baby can see the party is deeply pained by his exit.”
Iroh firmly rebutted PDP’s claims that Oko Chukwu mismanaged Abia’s IGR during his tenure, stating:
“As Chairman of the IGR Council, his role was limited to policy design and oversight — not collection or expenditure. In fact, under his leadership, IGR grew from N400 million to over N1 billion within one year. That’s a documented fact.”
He noted that the PDP’s attempt to scapegoat Oko Chukwu only further indicts the party’s own leadership, who were directly responsible for financial management during those years.
Comrade Iroh stated that no politician in recent memory has matched Oko Chukwu’s record of grassroots empowerment:
“Those spreading lies today are the same people who blocked him from securing the governorship ticket — because they preferred to keep Abia in the same backward state.”
Iroh accused the PDP of rewriting history to suit a false narrative, stating:
“For over 20 years, they gave him the party ticket — not out of benevolence — but because he consistently delivered victories, especially from Nkporo and Ohafia LGAs. His political strength was their lifeline.”
Describing the party’s current leadership as “confused and fake,” Iroh said the PDP SWC had chosen slander over introspection:
“Rather than face the truth of their growing irrelevance, they’re attacking a man whose legacy and popularity they could never match.”
Comrade Iroh urged the people of Abia to see through the propaganda and character assassination, and to judge leaders based on facts, not fiction.
“Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu remains loved, trusted, and respected by the grassroots. No amount of blackmail will erase his legacy. Abians are wiser now, and they can clearly see who truly worked for them and who failed them.”
