Liverpool Spank Spurs Reach Carabao Cup Final

Defending champions Liverpool will face Newcastle United in the final of the Carabao Cup after they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in the second leg of their semi-final encounter played at Anfield.

Spurs came into the game with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg, but were dismantled by a resolute Liverpool side who opened scoring through Cody Gakpo in the 34th minute.

Five minutes after the break, Mohamed Salah doubled the Reds lead from the penalty spot after Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky had fouled Darwin Nunez in the penalty area.

Dominik Szoboszlai slotted home from Conor Bradley’s cross to extinguish any hope of a comeback before skipper, Virgil van Dijk’s header put the icing on the cake.
