Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has again reassured that the New Government House Complex located at Ogurube Layout, Umuahia will be completed before the expiration of his tenure in 2023.
Ikpeazu made this known when he paid an inspection visit to the New Government House Project Site to ascertain the progress of work in company of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji.
Recall that the New Government House Project was initiated by the administration of immediate past Governor of Abia, Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji.
While reiterating his resolve towards ensuring that the Complex is completed in record time,the Governor said, “I will move into this place and use it before I leave office as Governor in 2023”.
He noted that the the presence of the Speaker in the inspection exercise was part of his administration’s efforts to uphold the principle of transparency in governance.
The Governor expressed satisfaction that the contractor is now back on site, adding that the visit was to ensure that the work is going according to specifications.
“I have come to see the quality of work and to ensure they are working in line with specifications.
“Presently, the contractor is doing electrical, plumbing and tilling works as plastering had been completed”, Ikpeazu stated.
He encouraged the contractor to expedite work to achieve the plan of completing the project in good time.
