Civil society organizations in Udu Local Government Area have reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Hon. Revd. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, citing notable achievements in infrastructural development, inclusive governance, and responsive leadership.
The endorsement came at the end of a strategic engagement held on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, at the constituency office of Hon. Waive, who represents Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
In a communique issued after the meeting, the coalition commended Governor Oborevwori’s administration for appointing several Udu indigenes to key government positions, including commissioner, special adviser, and over thirty other strategic roles.
They also applauded the state government’s infrastructural interventions in Udu, highlighting the Udu Modern Market, Opete–Okpaka Road to the river, Bezi Road in Aladja, CAC Road in Orhuwhorun, and the Orhuwhorun–Usiefrun–Ekrokpe Road. The award of contracts for the Gbogidi Road and Aladja–Ogbejoh Road was also cited as evidence of sustained progress.
Acknowledging that no administration can address all development needs at once, the coalition expressed optimism that additional projects—including the dualization of the Udu Road from Udu Bridge to ECN, the Orhuwhorun–Ohwrode–Erhiaphiyor Road, and the proposed Second Udu Bridge linking Enerhen to Opete/Okpaka—would soon receive attention.
The group further commended Governor Oborevwori for the recent approval of an overhead bridge in Ughelli, describing it as a mark of inclusive governance within the federal constituency.
They also lauded the governor’s support in facilitating the take-off of the Federal Medical Centre, Ovwian—an initiative they credited largely to Hon. Waive’s legislative advocacy.
Pledging their continued commitment to peace and development, the coalition resolved to maintain constructive dialogue with the Oborevwori-led administration and to suspend all planned protests, describing confrontation and militancy as counterproductive in the current political landscape.
The communique concluded with a resounding vote of confidence in Governor Oborevwori and endorsed his re-election bid in 2027. Similar endorsements were extended to President Tinubu and Hon. Waive for their developmental contributions to Udu and the broader constituency.
