2027: Gov Fubara Pledges Support for Tinubu Re-election As Okocha Applauds Governor’s APC Move

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to ensure a smooth re-election bid for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, following his formal joining of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Fubara made the commitment on Friday after receiving his APC membership card from the state Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Fubara explained that his decision to join the APC was driven by gratitude to President Tinubu, whose sacrifices he said were instrumental to the stability of his administration. The governor noted that aligning with the ruling party was essential to ensure cohesion between the state and federal government.

“We can’t be doing our own here and be on a different course from the federal government, the ruling party. There is every reason to support Mr. President. If not for anything else, I know the sacrifices he has made to ensure we still stand as a government,” Fubara stated.

The governor emphasized that his support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election would be central to his efforts in Rivers State. “I took this decision as a returned favour, clearing the path to ensure that his re-election in 2027 will be easy and smooth in this state,” he said, adding that the party affiliation would make the process easier.

Fubara also expressed gratitude to Okocha for what he termed a “spiritual assignment” and vowed to keep the APC as the dominant political force in Rivers State. He pledged to take responsibility for the party’s well-being in the state, assuring Okocha that he would support every need of the state executive and the party.

“I will do everything to keep APC as the main and active progressive party in Rivers State. From this minute, it becomes my responsibility to ensure that the party is properly taken care of,” he said.

The governor urged his supporters to intensify their efforts in promoting President Tinubu’s achievements ahead of the 2027 election, reaffirming his commitment to the safety, protection, and development of Rivers State.

In his remarks, Chief Okocha congratulated Governor Fubara on officially joining the APC and noted that his move would strengthen political unity in the state. Okocha assured the governor of the party’s full support, adding that the governor’s decision to join the APC had rekindled political bonds in Rivers State under President Tinubu’s leadership.
