The member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Moses Essien, has begun rallying support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno ahead of the 2027 elections and beyond.
Essien, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, made this known while convening a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Ibiono Ibom on Tuesday. He stated that the people of the area would support the two leaders in view of their development agenda, citing ongoing interventions in healthcare, infrastructure, and social development.
The meeting brought together political leaders, community leaders, women, and youth representatives across party lines. Participants reviewed the state of development in the local government area and acknowledged what they described as the “measurable efforts by the federal and state governments to improve the social and economic well-being of the people of Ibiono Ibom.”
Speaking at the meeting, stakeholders commended the Bola Tinubu-led federal government for establishing and commissioning a functional 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Okoita, as well as providing medical equipment. They described the project as a major boost to healthcare access, particularly for women and children.
They also applauded Governor Umo Eno for approving the appointment of a Medical Superintendent for the hospital and called for the deployment of adequate personnel to ensure its full operation.
The stakeholders further thanked President Tinubu for appointing an Ibiono Ibom indigene, Senator Ita Enang, as Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate. They also appreciated Governor Eno for supporting Enang’s nomination and congratulated him on the appointment.
Highlighting Governor Eno’s people-oriented projects in the area, the stakeholders said:
“We appreciate the governor for his values-driven and inclusive leadership style. The ongoing road projects across Ibiono Ibom and other parts of the state are critical to opening up our area, strengthening rural–urban connectivity, and stimulating trade and investment.
“We particularly acknowledge the inclusion of the Nsa Asi–Ikot Obio Asa–Ikot Eshiet–Ikot Antia Obio Uyai–Ikot Uba–Itukho–Ikot Ekpe–Aka Ikot Udo–Eno Road in the 2026 budget. This project is a strategic economic corridor linking agricultural zones and commercial centres.”
They therefore called on indigenes of Ibiono Ibom to actively participate in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing the need to strengthen the area’s electoral influence.
In a joint resolution, the stakeholders urged unity and cooperation among the people of Ibiono Ibom, reaffirmed their commitment to working with all levels of government to advance development in the area, and pledged continued support for President Tinubu and Governor Eno beyond 2027.
The resolution was endorsed by the member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Obong Ime Okon; the convener; the Ibiono Ibom Council Chairman, Obong Asuakak Umoh; and other major stakeholders.
