2026 WORLD CUP: All the Group Leaders in Africa Qualifiers

As African countries engage in match day five and six of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, here are the top teams in their respective groups, who would qualify for the World Cup if the qualifiers should end today,

The Pharaohs of Egypt are comfortably on top of group A with 10 points after winning three of their matches and drawing only one.

In Group B, Sudan are taking the lead with 10 points garnered from three wins and a draw.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are not finding things easy in group C as they are placed 5th with only three points and they are yet to win a match. However, The Wasp of Rwanda are leading with seven points and are closely followed by the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and the Squirrels of Benin Republic with the same seven points respectively.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are dominating Group D with eight poits after winning two and drawing two of their matches

The Atlas Lions of Morocco, who became the first African team to reach the semi-final of the mundial at the last World Cup in Qatar are leading in Group E, with nine maximum points.

African champions, Cote d’Ivoire are living up to their status by leading Group F with 10 points after securing three victories and a draw.

Group G is led by Algeria who have garnered 9 points after winning three matches and losing one. However, they have their eyes looking behind from time to time as Mozambique are breathing down their neck with same number of points.

In Group H, the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia are leading with 10 points after four matches.

The biggest rivalry in this qualifier so far is between the Comoros and Ghana in Group I. Both sides are tied on nine points with three wins and a defeat.

Later today, the Mbombela Stadium will come alive when Eswatini host Group D leaders, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

In Group H, The Lone Stars of Liberia will lurk horns with the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia, while in Group I, Stade Larbi Zaouli will be the battle ground when Central African Republic host Madagascar.
