DR Congo brought their five match winless streak at the CHAN to an end with a 2-0 victory over co-host Zambia at the Nyayo National Stadium Nairobi.
This victory has rekindled their hope of reaching the knockout stage after their opening match loss.
After a goalless first half, Ibrahim Matobo and substitute Horso Mwaku scored a goal each to give the Leopards the victory.
This is the first time Zambia would lose a group stage match at the CHAN, which span over 12 matches.
In Group A’s other game, 10-man Kenya fought like wounded lions to secure a 1-1 draw with Kenya. Playing at the Moi International Sports Centre, the Harambe Stars had their vociferous fans behind them and were hoping for another victory.
But just after seven minutes, things moved from good to bad when Angola took the lead through Jo Paciencia. Kenya responded quickly and found an equalizer from the penalty spot five minutes later.
Things deteriorated for the Kenyans when Marvin Nabwire was sent off in the 21st minute. They had to battle for about 70 minutes with only ten men.
Angola will take on DR Congo in a must win last group match while Kenya will have their hands full against Morocco, but they have a bright chance of qualification if they can secure a favourable result.
