The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has called on members of the PDP in Abia State, to sit down and solve their differences, so that the party will not loose Abia come 2023.
The National Chairman of the PDP, who came to Umuahia, alongside some of his National officers, for the commissioning of the first ever Children’s Specialist Hospital and the construction of Aba Road-Isicourt, said Abia PDP must sit down and discuss,so that they will not loose Abia to opposition come 2023.

Sen Iyorchia Ayu, stated that who ever becomes the governor of Abia state is not a problem to the National body of the party, but it becomes a problem if it wants to tear the party in the state apart, adding that the National body has no right to endorse any candidate in Abia.
“I am not in Abia State to endorse any Governorship candidate, but to Commission the Abia State Children’s Specialist Hospital and a road .
“At the national level,we do not endorse candidate for any state.
“It is left to the people of Abia State, to sit down and discuss and solve their problems.
“So you must discuss and solve it in a way that we will not loose elections in Abia State, Abia must remain a PDP state”,he said.
He further explained that he received a lot of threats not to visit Abia, because they thought he was coming to Abia to endorse a candidate for governorship.
“When I received the invitation two weeks ago to come to Abia, I received several threats messages alongside, asking me not to visit Abia, unless I don’t want to go back alive.
“Some of them said that they heard I was coming to Abia to endorse a particular Governorship aspirant.But that is not true, because at the National level, we do not endorse aspirants”.
While commending the Governor for bringing the dividend of democracy to the people through the provision of health facilities, construction of road, education, housing,water among others, enjoined Nigerians to ensure they continue in the journey of democracy, which gives everybody the freedom and reject any action or policy that would take us back to the military regime.
Meanwhile, youths stormed the Children’s Specialist Hospital to express their displeasure over the recent zoning formula,where the 2023 governorship ticket was zoned to Abia Central and North.
The youths were seen carrying placards with inscriptions that read: “We want Governor from Abia North”, “He that comes to Equity,must come with clean hands”, Give us Governor,else there will be no more PDP in Abia State”.
High point of the event,was the official commissioning of the Children’s Specialist Hospital, with well equipped facilities.
