As the build up to the 2023 General Election gains momentum, Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has charged aggrieved members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to sheath their swords and work towards securing victory for the party in next year’s polls.
Governor Ikpeazu who gave the charge at the T.A Orji International Conference Centre while inaugurating the Abia State PDP Campaign Council ahead of next year’s general elections, further charged the Council to lead the party to total victory.
While noting that the Party has all it takes to emerge victorious, the Governor urged the PDP council members to approach the forthcoming elections with the seriousness it deserves and shun complacency.
He reminded the council that they are expected to sell the party’s campaign for next year’s general elections adding that they were carefully selected based on their team record of achievements in different endeavors.
The Governor while pledging to provide the necessary logistics to make their jobs easier, urged then to harness the resources to win the 2023 election and expressed optimism that the party would secure total victory in next year’s elections.
In his remarks, the Abia PDP Governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections, Professor Uche Ikonne applauded Governor Ikpeazu for the credible way he has managed the affairs of the state and the party in extension and promised to improve and consolidate on the achievements recorded by the present administration.
Professor Ikonne also promised to key Abia into all national and international policies and programmes, adding that the council has the mandate to deliver all candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections.
Earlier in his speech, the state PDP Chairman, Asiforo Okere while noting that the mandate of the council is to deliver PDP Candidates at all levels,said that all members of the PDP are automatic members of the campaign council as the council has been structured into State,Local Government,Ward and Unit levels.
He added that members of the council are expected to lead campaigns in their various LGAs,Wards and Units while the local government chairmen of the 17 LGAs are expected to inaugurate their various campaign councils by next week.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of others, the Director General, Chief Chinedum Elechi thanked the Governor and the party for finding them fit to serve and stated their commitment to deliver all candidates of the party in the coming elections.
