2023: My Priority As Governor Will Be Human Capital Development, Infrastructure, SMEs- Prof Ikonne

A frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne, says one of the cardinal agenda of his administration will be human capital development, consolidation of infrastructural development, provision of quality education, institutionalization of participatory governance, security and continued promotion of SMEs.

Professor Ikonne made this known while interacting with some journalists in Umuahia.

He said that he has a comparative advantage in building the Abia of our dream having served the State in different capacities.

According to him, I have proper assessment of the present situation having served the state, being around the state for over 30 years, serving in a position where you meet people from all walks of life, from all the nooks and crannies of the State and Interacting with people on top management level, and even social status. I think I’m in a position within the limits of human error, access the true position of Abia State infrastructurally, socially, academically, agriculturally and all areas of human endeavor”.

He maintained that having being in the academic system at all levels, engaged in training and management of human resources both as class room lecturer, Dean,Director, Deputy Vice Chancellor academics, Rector of Abia State Polytechnic where he went on rescue mission and as Vice Chancellor of the State owned University, participated in quality human capacity development in the country, he was poised to drive the future for the State.

Ikonne while revealing that the responsibility of every governance is about quality human capacity building, giving people opportunity to develop their natural potentials, noted that he would encourage education that trains people for global standard, provide didactic environment that helps people develop their skills in different positive ways.

The PDP guber aspirant said he would consolidate on the gains recorded by the present administration in the SMEs, which according to him the priority Governor Ikpeazu’s government placed on SMEs has paid off, placing Abia on the global map as SMEs capital and rekindled the spirit of artisans in the State.

He promised to promotion SMEs to the next level by replicating Lagos computer village in the State, build a center that will collaborate with ICT experts like google and Microsoft with the aim of having an ICT laboratory that will sharpen their skills, engage in artificial intelligence, manufacture apps that will help solve every day problem, expressing confidence that our people have the ability to do that.

He promised that government will provide good atmosphere for business to thrive.
